Stephan has over ten years of experience in the fitness and sports performance industry. He previously worked for Chicago Park District as a Physical Instructor, working with several Youth, AAU, IHSA, NCAA (D-1, D-2, D-3) teams and athletes. Stephan also has experience working as a fitness director for a health club specializing in group classes and fitness boot camps, in 2007 he merged the two professions together to form NLS Athletic.

I found out about NLS through a friend, I really like how she was transforming herself. So I finally decided to contact her and asked her for information and that I wanted to join. I’m so happy I did because it has really changed my life!
I’ve lost about 100lbs. But more importantly, I’ve also lost inches. I’ve gone from a size 15 to in between a 0 and size 2. I feel so much better. My mood has changed. I‘m so happy. I feel excited to come to the workouts. I just really feel great, honestly.
Since I’ve been with NLS, I’ve ran small marathons and fun runs. Which is new for me. I’ve never ran anything . So my goal within the next year is to actually finish a half/full marathon. And NLS is helping me every single day with the endurance.
So, if there’s someone out there that’s looking at me thinking I can’t do that – I was like that in the beginning. I could run on the treadmill, but I was not fast at all. I’ve come so far. Everybody has. I watch everybody in the studio. We’re all really close. You’re gonna feel close with people. They’re going to motivate you. And you’re going to start motivating them. And you’re going to see that you’re going to find results.
NLS has built my confidence level. I’ve gone from walking in to NLS and looking at everyone and thinking I’ll never be able to do that. Now I feel like I’m the motivator. I actually have a lot of people call me and say, “Ingrid, will you come to NLS Bootcamp class with me?” “Will you run with me on the treadmill?” So I feel like I’m motivating more people now. It’s definitely increased my confidence. And I feel great about it.
Right before having a baby I contacted Stephan to inform him that I was serious about taking advantage of his personal training services as soon as I was cleared to workout by my dr. His In-home services were just what I needed being that I had a newborn and a 3 year old to look after while my husband works. He was very flexible with my schedule, and had new workouts to keep me excited. He also helped me to concentrate on my eating in order to get the best results. After having my daughter I weighed over 200 lbs. In 8 months he had me down to an amazing 162! This was actually less than I weighed before becoming pregnant. Words can't express how much I appreciate his help. He always told me that if I did the work and listened to his instructions I would see the results, and that is exactly what happened.
Stephan is by far the best trainer I ever had! Not only did he push me to obtain my weight loss goals but he helped me surpass them. When I started out with him I believe I was around 185. I had a 2 year old and was using the excuse that I just had a baby for those two years. I was eating unhealthy and completely stopped working out. When I looked in the mirror I was so unhappy with the person staring back at me. So I decided to make a change and linked up with Stephan.
I joined his boot camp classes on Saturday mornings, did the daily and weekly workouts he gave to me and most importantly I stuck to the eating regimen he had me on. After a few weeks I started to notice that I was feeling more energized, I was eating better with ease and didn't even care about the unhealthy stuff I gave up. A few more weeks after that I started noticing that my clothes were fitting a bit loser, not only was I losing weight but I was toning as well. By the time I completed the program I was down from 185 to 157. Stephan not only knows what he's talking about but he motivated you every step of the way. I've recently had another child ( and no, not two years ago 😂) about 4 months ago and I've gained a significant amount of weight back. I unfortunately no longer live in Chicago but I plan on implementing everything I learned from Stephan to get my body back in shape! I'm also planning on doing the 30 day total body shred program as well. I've taken the liberty of adding 2 before pics and and after pics. Stephan is the real deal!!
Top notch!!! Whether it's personal training or group training NLS will challenge you and give you the tools to reach your goals. Even nutrition consulting and advice is well thought out. Great service, great workouts and great people.
What I I love about training with NLS/Stephan is that he never makes you feel bad about not reaching your goals from one week to the next, but just keeps pushing your boundaries so that you feel good about what you achieve. In short, he teaches you that fitness is a long-run goal. Our workouts are always varied, structured, and adapted to suit my personal needs and goals. Can't say enough good things!

I’ve trained with Stephan in the past and believe he is one of the most experienced and committed trainers around. I started training once a week, as part of a group session. I really enjoyed the variety and challenge he put into the sessions. I also took on a personal one-on-one session, which was great!
Stephan is focused on helping you achieve your goals and makes every session challenging but fun. My fitness increased noticeably and I was able to see improvements in my ability to complete more exercises & generally push myself harder throughout each session.
Stephan would ensures that my technique was always correct to avoid any injuries. He is also extremely reliable and punctual , he's always set up and ready to start training ahead of time, with an exercise routine planned.
